It promises to be a historical day for Women football, as it is the first time that the Women league will be played under the floodlights.

Military side Ulinzi Starlets will face off with Vihiga Queens, before Kenya Police Bullets take on Kibera Soccer Women.

Ahead of today's fixtures, Police Bullets are at the top of the league table with 43 points, two more than Ulinzi Starlets with Trinity Starlets closing the top three with 34 points.

The relegation zone remains a Nyanza affair with Kisumu All Starlets at the bottom of the log with -7 points, Kisped Queens with -2 points as Homa Bay-based Gideon Starlets join them with 17 points.

Ulinzi Starlets vs Vihiga Queens

It will be a battle of Kenyan giants when Ulinzi Starlets face Vihiga Queens in the first match of the day from 1400 hrs.

Ulinzi will be seeking for a win that would take them to the top of the log, at least before Police plays, a factor coach Collins Ochieng revealed pushes them.

“We have had good preparations so far and we want to win the match on Saturday. We understand Vihiga is a tough side but we shall give our best. We want to win the league and that’s our focus for now. If we win against Vihiga we will be number on the table and that will motivate us a lot,” Ochieng told Citizen Digital.

His counterpart Boniface Nyamunyamu equally expressed his team's ability to emerge victorious even as he lamented the injury situation in the team.

“It will be a tough match but we are ready for them. It’s sad that I will miss the services of my three players who are nursing injuries and it’s my hope they get well soon because I need their services in our quest to win the title,” opined Nyamunyamu.

Kenya Police Bullets vs Kibera Soccer Women

The second match of the day will see defending champions Kenya Police Bullets entertain FKF Cup reigning champions Kibera Soccer Women from 1700 hrs.

This will be the first WPL match to be played under the floodlights and is expected to attract a large number of fans who are keen to have the experience.

Police will be seeking for a win that would maintain their spot on the log while Kibera Soccer will be out to improve on their current fifth position with 28 points.
