The dinner was hosted by Governor Wanga ahead of the team's botched FKF Premier League match against Mara Sugar FC, which was slated for Sunday, 24 May.
K’Ogalo had flown to the lakeside county to play what would have been a consequential match in their title charge.
In anticipation of the homestretch and encouragement to the team, Wanga presented Ksh1 million to the team, donated by President Ruto, as well as Ksh1 million from herself, with the club walking home Ksh2 million richer.
"We hosted Gor Mahia for dinner as the team looks forward to wrapping up the league fixtures with a record-extending 22nd Kenya Premier League title. Best of luck, K'Ogalo!" read a tweet from Wanga.
Gor Mahia had already landed in Homa Bay before they learnt of their match being halted through an order by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT).
The match had been in the headlines throughout the week due to a tussle between Gor Mahia, Mara Sugar and the FKF over the match venue.
The encounter was initially scheduled to take place at the Awendo Green Stadium, a venue that Gor Mahia raised security concerns over.

After intense pressure, Mara succumbed and changed the match venue to Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, a matter that did not sit well with FKF through the Leagues and Competitions Committee.
FKF insisted that Mara should host the match at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay (ROSH), which is registered as their alternative home ground, arguing that Wang’uru is over 200km away from both Awendo and ROSH.
Mara would then express dissatisfaction with the choice of venue by FKF, insisting that, as the home team, they reserve the right to host the match wherever they deem fit.
After failing to convince FKF, the Sugar Millers sought refuge in the corridors of justice, where they were granted orders suspending the match until their case is heard and determined.
As it stands, Gor Mahia's next match will be their clash against Nairobi United set for Sunday, 31 May at the Nyayo National Stadium.
