Leipzig managed to get a point in Dortmund
Borussia has started this season surprisingly good and ahead of the game with Leipzig is yet to be defeated. Trailing Bayern Munich only two points, and with four points from two games in the Champions League, Niko Kovač’s men hosted Leipzig. The visitors are also the team on the rise (Borussia and Leipzig are both unbeaten in the league in the last four matches) and in general, have a better overall record against Borussia. Dortmund have lost just three of nine previous home games against Leipzig, but two of those have come in their last four meetings at Signal Iduna Park. Overall, the Red Bulls have gotten the better of BVB in four of their last five battles, but today, both clubs didn’t show much and the game ended with a peaceful 1-1 score. Dortmund an Leipzig had their chances and the game could have gone either way. The visitors played better at the beginning of both halves, but the home team had better chances near the end. Borussia’s exhausting Chamions League game against Bilbao (won 4-1) also took it’s tool, considering that Leipzig players had almost seven full days to prepare for this encounter, compared to Dortmund’s three.

Just as the players tried to get accustomed to the match dynamics, it was 1-0 for the guests. Raum played the free-kick short to Seiwald, who swinged the ball deep into the Dortmund area. Ouedraogo managed to head it back across goal for Baumgartner, who finished with aplomb from close range. For the next 10-15 minutes, it was all about the visitors, who pressed and had initiative but the hosts prevailed and managed to euqalize. It was 23rd minute when Beier's cross found Guirassy, who held the ball up well inside the area before teeing up Couto, who steered a low, let-footed shot into the corner for the equalizer. The guests managed a quick counter-attack in which Raum made an excellent pass to Romulo, but Kobel made a superb save with his feet before the referee called for offside.

Leipzig started the second half better, just as they in the first half. Kobel was forced to parry Nusa's cross-shot into the path of Ouedraogo, who dragged his effort wide in the 47th minute already. Baumgartner was given space in Borussia’s penalty area in the 76th minute and Kobel could only watch in fear as the ball went pass him, but luckily went out of play just inches of goal. Brandt was totally unmarked in the 88th minute but his header went over the bar, while Gulacsi made the save of the day in the 90th minute after Bensebaini's shot.
