Time-wasting cringe: Bulgarians are taking it to the next level

The third-division derby between the home side Balkan Botevgrad and the table-toppers Belasitsa resembled some funny home video and not a football game

Time-wasting has been an integral part of the football game for decades, and, despite some efforts from governing bodies and officials to sanction such behaviour - it's as vital as it gets.

Still, there are nuances in how that 'job' is done. For instance, Neymar likes to roll back to the inside of the pitch if an opposite defender's tackle gets him out of the field. Some clubs even command their ball boys to hide the balls if the rivals are in a rush.

But those examples are completely innocent compared to the scenes from Bulgaria.

The third-division derby in this country in Southeastern Europe (the homeland of legendary Hristo Stoichkov) brought us some surreal moments of a bizarre time-wasting. Teenagers nowadays even got a perfect word for it - cringe.

The absolute cringe, yes, in the clash between Balkan Botevgrad and the leaders Belasitsa. The former were one goal up deep in the stoppage time, and home player Viktor Vasilev decided to waste some time. But he did it so shamelessly and lousy, that it doesn't even deserve a comment. Check it out for yourselves...

Neymar, take notes, mate!
