Timbe managed 72 minutes in the game

Kenyan international Ayub Timbe featured for slightly over an hour as Buriram United saw off Port FC 2-1 to extend their stay at the top of the log to 10 points between them and second-placed Bangkok United.

The former Reading loanee was withdrawn 72 minutes in the game - his place taken by Suphanat Mueanta, with Buriram already leading by a solitary goal scored in the first half.

Jonathan Bolingi had given the league leaders the advantage in the game from the spot after just 20 minutes, a lead they held on to for the entire first half that was without much action.

Supachai Chaided doubled the lead for Buriram six minutes after Timbe had exited, connecting to a Supachok Sarachart ball to make it 2-0 and make the task tougher for the visitors.

Nattawuit Sombatyotha scored the consolation for Port with just three minutes left in regular time being on the end of a Pakorn Prempak pass but their fight was not enough to even share the spoils.

This was the 15th win for Buriram United, their second league win in a row since bouncing back to winning ways after a tough start in February that saw them lose Prachuap.

The 29-year-old posted a dream start to life in Thailand as he bagged an assist and goal on his debut in January when Buriram United whitewashed Chiangmai United 4-1 and has gone on to score two more goals since then.

Up next for Timbe and Buriram is an away match against Nakhon Ratchasima Mazda next Saturday.
