Bradley guided the Kenyan champions to a historic qualification on home soil, capped by a dominant 109–70 victory over Mozambique’s Ferroviario da Beira in front of a packed Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.

The win sealed City Thunder’s place in the BAL and saw them become the first team in this year’s East Division Elite 16 to score over 100 points.

Having made their debut in Africa’s premier men’s club competition last year, Thunder repeated the feat under Bradley’s stewardship, underlining their growing stature on the continental stage.

The City Thunder tactician edged out a strong field of nominees, including unbeaten Kenya Police FC Bullets head coach David Vijago and Kenya Morans coach Kevin Wambua, who led the Kenya Sevens team to an unbeaten run at the Zambezi 7s.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, SJAK officials noted the high level of competition among the shortlisted coaches as a reflection of improved performances by Kenyan teams across various sports disciplines.

Other nominees included Kenya Lionesses coach Simon Odongo, who guided the team to a second-place finish at the Africa Women’s 7s tournament in Nairobi, and Caroline Kola, head coach of the Kenya team at the Tokyo 2025 Summer Deaflympics, where the country won 15 medals.

Kenya U17 head coach William Muluya was also shortlisted after leading his side to the semi-finals of the AFCON Under-17 qualifiers, alongside Kenya Ports Authority coach Antony Ojukwu, who guided KPA to qualification for the Women’s Basketball League Africa in Cairo, and Kenya Police FC coach Dusan Stojanovic, who oversaw an unbeaten FKF Premier League run throughout November.

An elated Bradley expressed his gratitude after receiving the award. “I’m thrilled to receive this recognition,” he said. “I’m proud of my team’s hard work and dedication, and we’re excited to represent Kenya on the continental stage once again.”

SJAK President James Waindi congratulated the coach, saying the award highlighted Bradley’s impact on Kenyan basketball.

“This recognition reflects Coach Ibs’ outstanding contribution to the sport,” Waindi said. “He is an inspiration to many, and we are pleased to acknowledge his achievements.”
