Thomas Tuchel 'super happy' with a win and Mount's anime-like celebration

The German tactician is yet to be defeated as Chelsea coach

Chelsea’s first big test with the new coach came this Thursday, and the Blues passed it with flying colors. Thomas Tuchel’s men outplayed the current champions Liverpool and managed to defeat them at Anfield (their fifth defeat in a row) by a wonderful Mason Mount goal, leaving the Reds four-point short of a Champions League spot.

And the Blues midfielder’s goal enabled Tuchel to continue his nearly perfect record since arriving at Stamford Bridge. The German tactician is yet to be defeated, and he recorded seven wins and three draws while allowing only two goals. This was by far his toughest test yet, since he has a negative score against Klopp, and the match with Manchester United ended 0-0, as predicted with the Red Devils this season.

"I'm super happy. From the first day, I've felt part of the club and involved in the team. It's been a pleasure to coach the team from the first minute because I can feel the energy and attitude to all the things that are needed in a football game. They ready to play as a team, to attack as a team, they are prepared to fight and sacrifice for each other. I have a brave squad and they show up every four games in difficult games“ said Tuchel after the match.

His goal hero, Mason Mount explained a bit of tactic for this match and his winning goal.

We know they have quite a high line and they like to press high, especially at home, so any time we won the ball back from turnovers or we played out from the back, we looked to go in behind them. When I got the ball, I thought I was in a bit of space and I could go at Fabinho, even though Trent Alexander-Arnold was maybe coming back as well. When I got into the box, I knew I was one-on-one so I just tried to get a yard, get it on to my right foot, and then when you’re inside the box, you can open up the goal a bit. That was my idea. I tried to execute it and it went into the far corner. It was a massive goal for us and a massive win as well” explained Mount for the official club website.

The young midfielder had an interesting anime-like goal celebration, which has to do with his team-mate Kurt Zouma’s habits.

Me and Chilly (Ben Chilwell) always sit together behind Zouma on the plane when we travel away for the Champions League and stuff. He’s always watching cartoons like anime so we usually watch from behind and laugh at him. We said if one of us scored, we’d do it so that was the reason behind it and obviously, it’s one for Kurt as well” said Mount.

Another game without a goal for the super-payed Timo Werner. And Tuchel is still not concerned, but he’s not planning anything special to help his striker either.

"I demand 100 percent in every training. I don’t allow self-pity. No need for self-pity, he’s a privileged guy, he is full of talent and he plays football for one of the best clubs in the world and in the best league in the world. The only way I know is on the training pitch and in the games: put in the effort. Put yourself in a state of mind that you are ready to play for us on the highest level. Is he doing this? Yes, he is. Then he will be rewarded I am very sure. I am absolutely happy with his performance. It was another step and we are not counting the minutes. I know that in the end, the strikers count their minutes and their goals, which drives them. This is very important, but for me and my approach, it is not a subject. We push him. We do this with a smile and we try to give him confidence and from there on it is his job to be a big part of this group which he is in this moment" said the German.
