New counts relate to separate 2020 allegations; midfielder has previously denied all charges against him
Thomas Partey has been charged with two further counts of rape, significantly expanding the criminal case already hanging over the former Arsenal midfielder.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed on Thursday morning that the new charges relate to a separate report of alleged non-recent offences dating back to 2020. The allegations were first reported in August 2025 and follow a fresh investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Partey, 32, had already appeared in court, where he denied five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women. Those alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, during a period when he was a regular starter for Arsenal.
The additional charges now introduce a fourth complainant and extend the timeline of the case.
He was formally charged four days after leaving Arsenal in June, when his contract with the London club expired. Partey currently plays for Villarreal in Spain. The conditions of his bail do not prevent him from continuing his football career, though he must notify police of any international travel at least 24 hours in advance and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.
A first hearing on the new charges is scheduled to take place at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, 13 March. A trial concerning the earlier allegations is due to begin in November.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Partey continues to deny the allegations against him.
