Jonny Evans signs a one-year contract extension with Manchester United

Jonny Evans has signed a new one-year deal with Manchester United, keeping the reliable defender at the club beyond his 37th birthday next year.

The Northern Irishman returned to Old Trafford last year. Previously, he went through the entire Red Devils' youth ranks before leaving for West Bromwich Albion in 2015.

"I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season," he told the club website.

"To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege.

"Returning to the club last season was an honour. Representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager. "Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience. I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead,” concluded Evans.
