This machine keeps rolling! Bayern needed 18 minutes to turn 0–2 into 3–2 in madness of second half

We witnessed an incredible match in which Vincent Kompany’s team came back from a 0–2 deficit at the 80th minute to win 3–2

Never write off Bayern Munich! In the match leading up to their clash with Real Madrid, Bayern endured a nightmare until the 81st minute, trailing Freiburg 2–0. Yet, two almost identical goals from Bischof and a spectacular final play secured a comeback victory, giving Bayern a huge boost of momentum ahead of the Spanish showdown.

Freiburg started brightly and nearly caught Bayern off guard in the 5th minute. Holer made a clever run to block Neuer’s clearance and attempted to square the ball from the right, but his pass rolled just wide of the far post without finding a teammate.

Bayern responded in the 12th minute when Tom Bischof received a precise pass outside the box and fired goalwards, only to see his shot blocked by a teammate before it could trouble the goalkeeper.

The biggest chance of the half came in the 15th minute, and it fell to Freiburg. A well-worked move down the left saw Manzambi glide past Goretzka before feeding Beste, who delivered a low cross into the box. Holer and Bischof both missed the ball, allowing it to reach Treu at the far post, but from close range he dragged his effort just wide of the left post.

Bayern had their moments as well. In the 20th minute, Kimmich struck a first-time effort after a scramble in the box, but it went straight into Neuer’s hands. Freiburg continued to threaten, with Beste testing Neuer from a free-kick in the 27th minute, before Holer forced a brilliant save from the Bayern keeper a minute later with a well-taken shot from around 11 meters.

As the half progressed, Bayern pushed forward more aggressively. In the 43rd minute, Freiburg lost possession in a dangerous area, leading to a flurry of attempts. Karl’s initial shot was saved, Diaz tried an acrobatic effort, and Bischof followed up, but somehow the ball stayed out. Gnabry then tried his luck from long range right before halftime, sending a powerful strike just wide of the post.

Freiburg struck immediately after the restart. In the 46th minute, Manzambi produced a brilliant solo run, cutting inside before unleashing a powerful strike from around 25 meters. Neuer was left rooted to the spot as the ball flew into the net, giving Freiburg a 1-0 lead.

The hosts had a golden opportunity to double their advantage just minutes later. In the 52nd minute, Holer found himself just five meters from goal after a low cross from Treu, but he fired his first-time effort over the bar. Freiburg continued to threaten, and in the 54th minute Holer missed again—this time dragging a shot wide after beating Karl.

Bayern had their own massive chance in the 57th minute. Karl delivered a perfect ball into the six-yard box, finding Olise completely unmarked, but the Frenchman somehow missed the entire goal from close range in a shocking miss.

Freiburg were finally rewarded for their persistence in the 71st minute. From a corner delivered by Beste, Neuer came out but failed to clear the ball properly, and Holer reacted quickest to slot it home, making it 2-0 for the hosts.

Bayern responded with increased urgency. In the 77th minute, Olise tested the Freiburg goalkeeper with a strong effort from the edge of the box, but Atubolu produced a fine save. Just minutes later, Luis Diaz created space with a brilliant dribble and fired a powerful shot, only to be denied again by the impressive Atubolu.

However, Bayern finally found a way through. Around the 81st minute, just seconds after another save, Bischof struck from about 20 meters out, placing the ball into the net to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and reignite hope for the visitors.

The pressure continued to mount, and in the 84th minute Kimmich tried his luck from distance with a well-hit shot, but Atubolu once again came to Freiburg’s rescue with another excellent save.

In the 92nd minute, Bayern showed just how much it takes to beat them, and it proved decisive. Once again, it was Bischof who stepped up—almost in the same fashion as his first goal—striking this time with his left foot and beating the Freiburg goalkeeper to make it 2–2.

What a turnaround! In the final seconds of the match, Lennart Karl snatched the lead with the last attack. What a game and what a comeback. The ball fell to Alphonso Davies, who sent it into the six-yard box, where Karl was waiting to slot it into an empty net and seal a 3–2 victory for his team.
