This is your (Almost) All-African Team of the Week in European Leagues

Reading Time: 3min | Tue. 13.09.22. | 13:45

This weekend there was no Premier League football, but we've got newcomers from Russia, Serbia - and a couple of half-Europeans!

GOALKEEPER

BONO (Morocco/Sevilla)

He did concede two goals but has also made three precious saves as Sevilla belatedly got their first victory of the season in a thrilling game in Barcelona. Espanyol got back in the game despite falling 3-0 down in the first half, but some heroic Nervionenses' defending kept them afloat and earned them the win.

DEFENCE

RAMY BENSEBAINI (Algeria/Borussia Monchengladbach)

It was another solid display for the left-back, who helped his team to a respectable goalless draw at high-flying Freiburg on Sunday afternoon.

ABDOU DIALLO (Senegal/Leipzig)

The PSG defender on loan with Red Bulls played a fantastic match as his team destroyed Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Diallo will be required to produce performances like this every week if Leipzig are to reach the Champions League spots following a slow start to the campaign.

ANTONIO RUDIGER (Sierra Leone/Real Madrid)

Okay, we know what you're going to say. Rudiger is a German because he was born in Germany, has a German father and plays for the German national team. But look, his mother is Sierra Leonean and we really like him, so he's in, alright? Toni scored his first for Los Blacos. He's in. End of discussion.

VLADIS-EMMERSON ILLOY-AYYET (Congo/FC Ural)

Republic of the Congo international Emmerson helped his team keep a clean sheet and record a 2-0 win over Torpedo Moscow in the Russian Premier League. The Ukrainian-born defender, who has a Ukrainian mother and Congolese father, has spent most of his career in Russia.

MIDFIELD

KAMALDEEN SULEMANA (Ghana/Stade Rennais)

The boy who graduated from the Right to Dream academy in Ghana starred in the middle of the park as his Rennes team dismantled Auxerre 5-0. The 20-year-old is already proving an inspired addition to the squad after his $20 million transfer from Danish club Nordsjaelland.

ANDRE ZAMBO ANGUISSA (Cameroon/Napoli)

What a week it's been for this strong midfielder! He destroyed Liverpool in midweek before starring in the Serie A win over Spezia. The Cameroonian was arguably the best player on the pitch despite Giacomo Raspadori scoring the only goal in the dying minutes.

GEOFFREY KONDOGBIA (Central African Republic/Atletico)

The strong midfielder supplied an assist as Atleti ran out 4-1 winners against Celta Vigo at their Estadio Metropolitano. The Central African provided a towering presence in the middle of the park as Cholo Simeone's men made it two wins in a week.

MOHAMMED KUDUS (Ghana/Ajax)

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is setting Europe alight. He scored in three consecutive matches for the Amsterdam club, including a fantastic strike in the Champions League 4-0 hammering of Rangers. He wrapped it up with a brace in the 5-0 win over Heerenveen last weekend. The Ghanaian is already one of the best players for the Dutch champions.

ATTACK

MUSA BARROW (Gambia/Bologna)

Man of the match performance for the Gambian international striker in Bologna's home win over Fiorentina in the Serie A! Barrow scored in the 2-1 victory and caused many problems for the purple defence alongside striking partner Marko Arnautovic.

RICARDO GOMES (Cape Verde/Partizan)

The 30-year-old striker has been in lethal form. He bagged back-to-back hat-tricks in the Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga as his black and whites beat Kolubara 5-1 and Mladost 6-0. He also got a superb volley in the thrilling 3-3 Europa Conference League draw at Czech side Slovacko. Seven goals in just eight days? Excellent.
