This is the boy I want - Spurs boss sets his sights on his former Bees' striker

Ivan Toney has been in Saudi Arabia since August 2024 and is eager to get a call-up for the 2026 World Cup. To do so, he's also eager to get back to the Premier League

Ivan Toney has been almost forgotten following the move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli in August 2024. The four seasons he previously spent at Brentford under the tutelage of Thomas Frank had been highly successful, which led to the Three Lions' call-up for the versatile forward.

Toney impressed at the Bees with 36 goals in 83 top-flight games.

However, over the last year and a half, the 29-year-old has been far removed from the spotlight, despite delivering more than decent performances with the Saudi side.

Moreover, he reportedly earns a staggering £400,000-a-week tax-free in Saudi Arabia, following his £40million transfer. Alas, his chances of playing at next year's World Cup are diminishing in front of his very eyes.

However, there's a light at the end of that tunnel for Toney and one familiar face - Thomas Frank.

According to British media, the Danish tactician - now in charge of Tottenham - would be open to bringing Toney back to the Premier League.

As per talkSPORT, Spurs' boss is eager to get him in the January Transfer Window. Their first-choice striker, Dominic Solanke, has been out with an ankle injury since August, while summer signing Randal Kolo Muani is yet to score, and Mathys Tel has netted just once in seven league games.

At the same time, talkSPORT reports that Al-Ahli are reluctant to let him leave mid-season, with the player himself likely to have to push for a move.
