The Brazilian midfielder played just 13 minutes for the Reds

Liverpool's on-loan midfielder Arthur Melo is proving one of the worst signings in recent memory. Juventus' Brazilian was supposed to provide competition for compatriot Thiago Alcantara, but he managed just 13 minutes of football this season and is already looking like he'll go back to Italy soon.

Arthur’s injury problems have been a source of frustration for manager Jurgen Klopp. Having arrived at the club in late August , the 26-year-old has been limited to just a short cameo in Liverpool's 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League. And that was all. According to reports from England, Klopp has had enough.

Liverpool have the option to buy Arthur at the end of his loan spell for $38 million, but it is claimed the club have already decided that won’t happen.

On Monday, Arthur took part in Liverpool’s final session before the game, but he may have been a late withdrawal from the squad due to injury or illness. Liverpool often clarify a player’s omission from the squad if it is due to injury or illness, but there was no explanation for Arthur‘s absence on the night, and no comments from Klopp on the matter.

Italian website Tuttomercato even goes so far to say that Liverpool are determinad to terminate Melo's loan deal with Juve, now that Thiago has returned to fitness.
