The whole new level of greed and arrogance

Florentino Perez, Real Madrid's president and the chairman of the newly established European Super League, calls for the creation of the new World Cup?!
The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed - for lack of a better word - is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms - greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind.
By now, you've probably recognized the legendary lines from the 1987 Oliver Stone's movie "Wall Street", starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. Douglas, playing a wealthy, unscrupulous corporate raider Gordon Gekko tells this monologue on one shareholder's meeting, capturing maybe the very essence of capitalism.
More than 30 years later, the greed of those wealthiest is humongous as ever, with as many as 12 European football clubs announcing the breakaway from the UEFA. To make a long story short, they want more and more money although their profit has already reached an unprecedented height in history.
Greed and arrogance, as the fuels of the new era that could destroy the world of football as we know it.
Football will be in the near future on a brink of complete collapse. Nobody is thinking about the bigger picture, only the financial side.

I still believe we can solve this unpleasant situation.
That frankensteinish competition called European Super League - comprised of (for now) 12 richest clubs - Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter and Milan - will surely gather more sponsorships then now-endangered Champions League, but at what cost?
After UEFA and the football associations and leagues of England, Italy and Spain issued a joint condemnation of this act and threatened to ban the clubs and their players - Super League's bosses showed no fear whatsoever.
Real Madrid's president and the Super League chairman Florentino Perez has said that he is prepared to create his own world cup tournament (!?).
"If the players participating in the European Super League are banned from playing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, we will create our own World Cup tournament. It is not a big deal."
End of the quote. Wow, some arrogance there.

However, Perez also added that they "will help football at every level and take it to its rightful place in the world".
"Football is the only global sport in the world with more than four billion fans, and our responsibility as big clubs is to respond to their desires."
If this is football fans' desire, then something has dramatically changed in their point of view. But a fair share of Perez's statement is everything but in accordance with reality.
