The French Cup final in Mbappe’s shadow

Whole football France cannot wait for the French Cup final tonight. The PSG fans are eagerly waiting to see their hero Kylian Mbappe for the last time in PSG jersey (and to win another trophy) while the rest of France also cannot wait to see Mbappe playing his last game for the Parisians and finally leave for Real Madrid. The ones who are cheekier would even suggest that most of PSG fans would like that too, considering that he was booed in his last home game against Toulouse. His second flirting with Real Madrid (the first one was before he signed an extension with PSG) was all over the press for almost a year and most people are just fed up with it. But it’s not over. The famous French newspapers published some of the arguments the player had with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Their relationship came from father-to-son like, to the a little short of hostility. Mbappe didn’t include his president among the people he thanked for in this farewell message, and the club didn’t organize him any departing ceremony on his last Parces de Princes match. In fact, according to the reports which PSG later denied, there was an argument between the two in the dressing room and the screams could be heard from outside.

According to the French newspaper, Al-Khelaïfi literally told Mbappé: “You are going to legitimize the Super League!”, alluding to the fact that by reinforcing Real Madrid he was helping the tournament take shape. The PSG supremo also reproached Mbappe for leaving the club for free, naming Bellingham or Harry Kane the examples. "You can't go free and reinforce our biggest rival. All the great players, Bellingham, Kane, are leaving money for their club" he apparently told his striker.

Among those who are fed up with Kylian Mbappe is the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit, who had an outburst in a show on RMC Sports.

"That's enough, he's fed up with everything that. You have to try to refocus, to come down from the clouds a little and gain a certain humility like he had at the start of his career, it was refreshing. I was your first supporter but today you're tiring me. I could take you to the airport so you could go to Madrid, I would, he's so drunk" said Petit.

For all those who are interested in the match, it’s played in Lille between PSG and Lyon. Former Olympique striker Karim Benzema sent a note of support to his former team.

"Okay guys, it's the big day. Here we are, it's today, it's not tomorrow. A lot of strength, ambition, courage, and please turn them off! 6-9 in the house, we're together, let's go!" he said. It is expected that former Arsenal captain Alexandre Lacazette will be up front for this game, while his North London teammate Ainsley Maitland-Niles has big chances to be in the starting 11. After two games in which he wasn’t featured at all (Nice and Metz), Kylian Mbappe is included in the team and will start tonight’s game, looking for his last trophy in French football.
