The Portuguese ace commits his future to the Cityzens amid interest from Catalonia
It feels like Barcelona's shy noises of signing Manchester City's ace Bernardo Silva have been going on for ages. But those stories can finally be put to bed: Bernardo has signed a new three-year contract with the champions of Europe.
Barely two weeks ago, Bernardo gave Barcelona an ultimatum: either make a concrete offer to sign me or shut up. The outcome? The Portuguese commits his future to the club he joined in 2017.
Bernardo has amassed an impressive total of 308 appearances for the Sky Blues. Throughout his journey, he has secured an array of notable trophies, including five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields, and the coveted Champions League trophy. And he's chosen to continue on that road.
"I've had six incredible years at Manchester City, and I'm delighted to extend my time here. Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it's exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion. Success makes you want even more, and this Club allows me to keep winning. I love the manager, my teammates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years."
As well as the 14 trophies Bernardo has won at City, he was named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2018/19 and 2021/22 and the Champions League Team of the Season in 2022/23.

All those titles haven't quenched his thirst, however. The former Monaco and Benfica man stated that his personal motivation and the collective drive among his teammates remain as intense as ever. They want to win the Premier League for the fourth time in a row.
"When you think that no one ever did it before, if you do it, it always makes you feel a bit more special in terms of we created something in history. And if we do it, it's not going to be easy for anyone else to do it again, because this country, the number of teams that fight for this title every year is just ridiculous. It doesn't happen anywhere else. And we're very motivated to achieve that."
