A lot of derbies in Serie A can bring us a closer picture about possible champion

All three teams in the title race are playing today. Atalanta kicks things off with a must-win match in Florence to keep their slim hopes of re-entering the Scudetto race alive.

Inter will be significantly weakened against Udinese but still strong enough to secure three points against a visiting team with little to play for—neither in danger of relegation nor in contention for European spots.

Meanwhile, a huge clash is set for the "Maradona" stadium. For Antonio Conte and his team, this is a classic crossroads match. Napoli has managed just one win in the last two months and has used up all of its safety net—every misstep from now until the end of the season could be fatal for their title ambitions.

Milan has not lost in its last six visits to Napoli, with three wins and three draws. In the history of Napoli-Milan clashes, the Rossoneri have never managed to remain unbeaten in seven consecutive trips to the city under Mount Vesuvius. Statistics also favor Milan in matches played right after international breaks. The two teams have met 18 times under such circumstances, with Milan winning eight, Napoli five, and five matches ending in draws. Furthermore, Milan has won two league matches in a row before this break, but they haven't secured three consecutive victories since September of last year.

A major debate is unfolding among Milan supporters about whether their team should step aside and let Napoli win. For Milan’s hardcore ultras, it's agonizing to choose between securing a Champions League spot and the near certainty that beating Napoli would hand Inter its 21st Scudetto.

Napoli will be without Spinazzola, who suffered an injury in training yesterday, while Milan travels without Musah, who is suspended. Inter, on the other hand, is aiming for a treble at the San Siro. Over the next four weeks, the Nerazzurri will play six of their next nine matches at home across all three competitions.

So far in 2024, average attendance at the San Siro has dipped below 70,000, largely due to skyrocketing ticket prices. However, with the season entering its final quarter, the Coppa Italia semifinals, and the Champions League quarterfinals approaching, the stadium will likely be packed for Inter’s upcoming games.

Inter has won its last four matches against Udinese and is on a streak of six consecutive home victories over the Friuli-based club, with an aggregate score of 16-2. Udinese’s last win at the San Siro dates back to 2017. Interestingly, the two teams have met nine times after international breaks, with Inter winning five and the other four ending in draws. Before the March break, Inter had won four straight matches in Serie A and the Champions League, while Udinese was on a solid run of four wins and two draws before losing to Verona.

Inzaghi will be without three key starters: Lautaro Martinez and Dumfries are injured, while Bastoni is suspended following his red card against Atalanta. Additionally, Zielinski is expected to return only at the end of April. Udinese is also missing key players—goalkeeper Sava, defender Toure, and attackers Alexis Sanchez and Thauvin. Davis has recovered from injury but is not fit for a full 90 minutes, meaning he will likely start on the bench. Between Ekkelenkamp and Bravo, the Dutchman seems to have the edge.

Atalanta arrives in Florence with fewer absences than expected. Gian Piero Gasperini will have to watch the match from the VIP section (after receiving a red card against Inter) and will communicate remotely with his assistant Gritti, who will be on the sidelines.

In the last 48 hours, Matteo Retegui and Juan Cuadrado have recovered from injuries and are available, meaning the only missing starter is Ederson (suspended after his red card against Inter). Meanwhile, Rafael Palladino’s Fiorentina is only missing Colpani, with all other key players in top form, including the striking duo of Gudmundsson and Ken.

Both teams enter today’s match in contrasting moods—Fiorentina is riding high after defeating Juventus, while Atalanta is still feeling the sting of their loss to Inter. The hosts have won their last two home matches at the Artemio Franchi without conceding (1-0 vs. Lecce and 3-0 vs. Juventus). Since Palladino took charge, Fiorentina has yet to win three consecutive matches without conceding a goal.

Atalanta, on the other hand, has been ruthless on the road recently. In their last three away games, they have recorded three wins with a staggering goal difference of 14-0.

Fiorentina has historically been a favorite target for Ademola Lookman. The African Player of the Year has scored four goals and registered two assists in four matches against the Tuscan club. Before him, only Alexandre Pato managed to score in each of his first five appearances against Fiorentina while playing for Milan.
