Alaves are back in the Spanish top flight, and their player Asier Villalibre knows how to put some more sauce to the whole jubilation thing

Tens of thousands of supporters received Deportivo Alaves on Monday afternoon to celebrate their return to La Liga thanks to Asier Villalibre's promotion-worth winner in stoppage time of extra time of the playoff decider.

Villalibre, the hero who made promotion to the first division possible with his goal, was in the front row, accompanied by the players and technical staff of the club. Then, players and coaches went up one by one to the balcony to greet their fans, euphoric before the sixth time that Alaves has been promoted to the First Division Division in its 102-year history. The most anticipated moment arrived when Villalibre himself took out his trumpet and made the thousands of people gather in the square dance.

Alaves and Levante were locked at 0-0 in their promotion playoff second leg, after the first leg also ended goalless a week ago, before Villalibre netted from the spot after a penalty was awarded for handball following a lengthy VAR review.

Villalibre kept his cool to become the hero of the night.

"I was calm, I like to take penalties and I always wait for the goalkeeper to move," the 25-year-old striker, on loan from Athletic Bilbao, said.
