That crazy, crazy Barca! Blaugrana top Villarreal in a seven-goal thriller

Culers were 2-0 up, then trailing 3-2, then took the pendulum to their side again for 4-3

It was a hell of a rollercoaster in the If you think the Newcastle-Liverpool tie was frantic, think again. Barcelona clinched another La Liga victory, thus beating Villarreal away 4-3. Those seven goals tell a story of a crazy rollercoaster that we witnessed at Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday afternoon.

And no one could have predicted such a drama after the opening 15 minutes, which saw Barca going 2-0 up.

Wonderkind Gavi broke the deadlock with a Lewandowski-esque header in front of Lewa himself on the far post, making the most out of Lamine Yamal's smooth cross. Still in a state of shock after conceding that first one, the hosts saw another one going into the back of the net.

A sloppy clearance provided Frenkie de Jong with all the time and space in the world to slot it past the keeper and the Dutch playmaker never rejects the presents like that one.

However, it was far from over despite a shocking development. The Yellow Submarine changed the course almost instantly, responding in the same way - with two goals before the break.

Firstly, Foyth nailed an eye-pleasing header following a corner kick from the left, and then Sorloth levelled the score with a tap-in after the entire Barca's defence shambolicly went from one mistake (offside trap) to another (false man-marking) in less than 15 seconds.

Half-time came and went, but the match never lost any rhythm, with Pedraza bursting forward again in the 50th minute, laying it left to Baena, who slotted it into the far corner.

But it was still far from over...

Ex-City striker Ferran Torres reacted superbly during a commotion in Villarreal's box. Gavi tried to get his shot away, and Torres had a second effort blocked, too, but Filip Jorgensen did not stop his third effort. It was 3-3 at that moment.

Just two minutes later, Yamal cut inside again, his effort ended on the post, but veteran Lewa got onto the rebound for his first goal of the season and the significant victory against the former Barca boss Quique Setien.
