Ten players with Kenyan roots playing in England
Mozzart Sport looks at Kenya players plying their trade in England. These are players who were either born in Kenya or outside the country but have Kenyan roots.
Brooklyn Mwadime Kazungu- Born in the UK, the young midfielder turns out for the Leicester City U15 team, he had an opportunity to join Tottenham but opted to join the Foxes instead. He is eligible for Kenya through his father who hails from Kilifi.

Tyler Onyango- Born in the UK to a Kenyan father and British mother. Onyango has worked his way up to Everton’s first team. He made his first-team bow in 2021 but an injury he picked in April and subsequent surgery prevented him from making more appearances. He has featured for the England U17 team but is still eligible for Kenya.

Jonah Ayunga- The striker plays for League Two side, Bristol Rovers. Ayunga was born in the UK. His father is Kenyan while his mother is English. In 2016 he was called to the Kenya national team but did not feature.

Clarke Oduor-Born in Siaya Kenya, Oduor moved to the UK at an early age. He then joined Leeds United academy before working his way up to the senior team. Due to a lack of adequate playtime at Leeds, he opted for Barnsley in 2019. The defender's biggest career moment was in 2020 when he scored a late winner for Barnsley against Brentford. The goal helped the Championship side avoid relegation on the final day of the season. The 21-year old has played one game for the Stars.

George Gitau- Gitau was born in the UK. His parents are Kenyans. The 17-year old defender joined Middlesbrough in January 2020. He had stints with Arsenal and Crystal Palace before moving to Middlesbrough. He is currently with Boro’s under 18 team.

Leo Messo- The ten-year-old attacker joined the Arsenal academy last month. Born in the UK of Kenyan parents, Messo has been described as a huge talent and many expect him to work his way up to Arsenal’s first team. He is eligible for Kenya should he decide to play for Stars in the future.

Micah Obiero- Born in the UK to a Kenyan father and a British mother. The striker urns out for Championship side, Huddersfield Town. He joined the team during the 2016/17 season after a successful trial period. He has had loan stints at Carlisle and Halifax.

Josh Lelan Kipkemboi- The defender was born in the UK but is eligible for Kenya through his father, he featured for Harambee Stars in 2016 in a friendly match against Uganda when he came on as a late sub. Lelan played for Crawley Town, Northampton Town, and Aldershot Town. In 2019 he was released by Aldershot and has been club-less ever since.

Jonathan Walukana Wafula- Wafula turns out for National League North side, Guiseley. The striker was born in Kenya before he moved to the UK with his parents aged 10. In an earlier interview with Mozzart Sport, Wafula expressed interest in playing for the national team, Harambee Stars.

David Sesay- Sesay, a defender came through the Watford academy before joining Crawley Town in 2018. He recently left Crawley and has been linked with several English League One side. He was called to the Harambee Stars team in 2019 but turned down the call up because his team was battling relegation then.
