The Germans have four injured players of which three are starters; Chelsea's Billy Gilmour tested Covid positive; Dembele already out of the tournament

European continental tournament is slowly taking it's tole on players. Some are off the pitch because of injuries, some due to Covid19,...

Not to mention the scariest moment of the tournament when Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen fell during the game as a result of a cardiac arrest.

Either way it is obvious this huge number of games during the season is affecting the footballers and their health.

The German national team did not take long before they regained the trust of their nation and raised their self-confidence after the initial defeat at the Euro by France (0:1). The Panzers defeated Portugal after a comeback (4:2), so they are waiting for the last match in the group against Hungary with great relief.

However, what worries the coach Joachim Lev are injuries - minor and major. And there is quite a few of them.

As it was announced on the official Twitter page of the German national team - Mats Hummels, Thomas Muller, Lukas Klostermann and Ilkay Gundogan missed today's training. These are knee or muscle injuries and for now there are no details about their severity or whether the mentioned players will be ready for the clash with the Hungarians on Wednesday night.

In case of a triumph or even a draw, Joachim Loew's squad will proceed to the knock-out rounds and the only question is from which position.

At the same time, in group D, Scotland received bad news as their 'star of the match' against England - Chelsea's young midfielder Billy Gilmour - tested positive for coronavirus.Scots still have a chance to be second in their group but they need to win against Croatia tomorrow and goal difference will play a major role.

After Timothy Castagne suffered a facial injury at Belgium's opener against Russia and Ousmane Dembele suffering a tournament ending blow against Hungary, players who are leaving the competition are piling up.

Let's just hope this will be it as far as health issues go.
