Super Eagles dominate All-African Team of the Week in Top 5 European Leagues
Reading Time: 3min | Tue. 25.10.22. | 12:25
It was the weekend of Nigerian forwards and offensive midfielders making a statement across the Old Continent
Goalkeeper
YASSINE BOUNOU (Morocco/Sevilla)
Albeit he conceded three against super-mighty Real Madrid, Bounou is not to blame for any single one of those. He had three superb saves and saved his side from humiliation in the Spanish capital because they should have conceded half a dozen.
Defence
MOHAMMED SALISU (Ghana/Southampton)
At one point, it seemed like the Saints' defence could collapse under the pressure of Arsenal's attack, but Salisu and his teammates bounced back in the second half. The Ghanian sweeper prevented the Gunners' from scoring the second one and winning at St. Mary's.

OMAR COLLEY (Gambia/Sampdoria)
Colley's tap-in against Cremonese in the ultimate Serie A round is a perfect example of a life-saving rope. The Gambian defender waited for the opportunity in the box after the spot kick near the end. They leapfrogged them and are a bit away from the bottom finally.
Midfield
SAID BENRAHMA (Algeria/West Ham)
The fact he finished Bournemouth with his stoppage-time penalty doesn't mean that was the only exquisite thing the Algerian winger did on Monday night. Moreover, he dominated the left flank, earning applause for his successful dribbles, passes and continuous effort.
That cheeky Iwobi assist for Everton's third yesterday.

ALEX IWOBI (Nigeria/Everton)
The midfielder provided two assists in Everton's 3-0 win against Crystal Palace. Iwobi played a precise pass to Calvert-Lewin for Everton's opener. Six minutes from time, with Everton leading 2-0, Iwobi's sublime backheel teed up Dwight McNeil to score for the Toffees.
FRANCK KESSIE (Ivory Coast/Barcelona)
He's living proof of the old truth that every man has got his 15 minutes of fame. For Kessie, it was actually 56 minutes against Athletic Bilba after he came in for injured Gavi and made his presence more than visible. Splendid display and deserved place in the Team of the Week.
OLA AINA (Nigeria/Torino)
The prolific wing-back made a mess on the right side against Udinese, deservedly winning the man-of-the-match reward. His presence was embellished with the opener 15 minutes into the game. He found himself unmarked before placing it smoothly in the far bottom corner.
CHRISTOPHER ANTWI-ADJEI (Ghana/Bochum)
Another fantastic display for the experienced Ghanaian midfielder. Antwi-Adjei was heavily involved in the 2-1 win against the table-toppers Union Berlin. He assisted for the second goal, but even before that, the 28-year-old did wonders on the pitch to push his side to a surprise victory.
Attack
DIVOCK ORIGI (Kenya-Belgium/Milan)
The peculiar striker of Kenyan origins scored his debut goal for the Rossoneri against Monza. After the ball found its way to him on the edge of the box, the former Liverpool forward lashed his shot into the back of the net. Hope this is just the beginning for him at San Siro.
TAIWO AWONIYI (Nigeria/Nottingham Forest)
It's one of those fairytale stories that make you adore football. After six years of sorrow and not less than seven loans, the Nigerian striker finally left Anfield to pursue his dreams. And the first step was magical - he netted against Liverpool for the only second win in the league.
VICTOR OSIMHEN (Nigeria/Napoli)
That winner against Roma at the Olympic Stadium was a work of art. Won the duel, brushing aside Smalling before executing a jaw-dropping stunner for a massive win. This is definitely his season, and it's a shame the Super Eagles didn't qualify for the World Cup because he's on fire.
