Struggling Wazito complete transfer business by roping in two foreigners

FKFPL side Wazito FC further galvanised their squad by roping in Ugandan custodian Bashir Sekagya and lanky defender John Kuol.

The two signings were completed just in time before the transfer window slammed shut on Monday 1 November at 5 PM local time. 

Sekagya joins Wazito from Ugandan giants Vipers SC and according to reports emanating from the landlocked country, the custodian has inked a two-year deal.

He has previously featured for Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) FC which he joined after a spell with the KCCA FC youth side in 2017 and also had a loan stint with Proline FC from Vipers.

Sekagya was rumoured to have signed with the record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa after parting ways with Vipers but the deal failed to materialize. 

He becomes the third goalkeeper Wazito have signed in the recent transfer window following the inclusion of Mustapha Oduor and Omar Adisa. 

Kuol joins the Wazito after ending his four-year association with Kariobangi Sharks after the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season and was part of the mass exodus at the club. 

The South Sudanese defender was linked with a move to AFC Leopards after holding a number of training sessions with them but talks between the two parties broke down. 

Wazito CEO Dennis Gicheru was impressed with the quality of the signings and was adamant the duo will bolster the squad as they try to wriggle themselves out of the relegation zone. 

“Both are good players and I am confident that they will make the team stronger at the back. I urge them to fight for their place in the team and represent the Wazito brand well,” said Gicheru.
