Despite making the match day squad, Timbe was forced to watch the whole game from the substitutes bench

Just one day after being nominated for Vissel Kobe’s April player of the month, Kenyan international Ayub Timbe was forced to watch from the benches as Kobe marched to an emphatic 3-0 victory over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a Japanese top tier league match played at the Noevir Stadium.

Despite making the match day squad, Timbe was forced to watch the whole game from the substitutes bench. It was Kyogo Furuhashi’s brace, a man of the match display, that set the foundation for the three points that saw Kobe return back to winning ways after five attempts, scoring all three goals in the first half.

Just in the 11th minute, Furuhashi opened the scoring for the home side before adding a second in the 25th minute after being set up by former Barcelona player Sergi Samper. Yiya Nakasaka drove the final nail to the coffin when he added a third and final goal just a minute past the half way mark.

Kobe captain Andres Iniesta also made his comeback back to the team in the 75th minute after missing out for 142 days through injury. The Barcelona legend and world cup winner replaced Shion Inoue. Hiroshima did not have any response in the game as the game concluded 3-0.

With the win, Vissel Kobe now sit in 5th place on the log on 23 points. Sanfrecce Hiroshima who succumbed to a second straight defeat now sit in 8th place on the log on 17 points.

So far, since being officially unveiled at Kobe, Timbe has played a total of 70 minutes after only making two appearances for the team
