Onyango, who was born in England but is eligible to represent Kenya courtesy of his father, replaced James Tarkowski just after the hour mark.

Despite recent transfer rumours, that have been linking him to a possible exit, the 21-year-old remains part of Everton’s US tour squad.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.

Everton responded five minutes before halftime through Iliman Ndiaye.

In the second half, Fernandes turned provider, setting up Mason Mount, who found the net in the 69th minute.

However, an Ayden Heaven own goal in the 75th minute levelled the score.

Despite a shaky moment that led to United’s second, Onyango recovered well and drew praise from fans online:

PeterMcCole: “Well done Tyler Onyango, for making up for his earlier mistake on United’s second. Central midfield looked better, but still lacking a Douglas Luiz type. Beto and Barry were a tough watch.”

Omac asked, “How did Tyler Onyango miss the Harambee Stars call-up?”

Alusa, on his part, thanked coach Moyes for trusting Onyango with the opportunity. “Moyes is giving Tyler Onyango a chance. That is massive.”

Onyango has previously represented England at youth level but remains a prospect for Kenya should he switch international allegiance.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars left-back Erick Ouma played the full match for Raków Częstochowa in Poland’s top flight as they suffered a 3-1 away defeat to Radomiak Radom.

Capita, Roberto Alves, and Maurides scored for the home side, with Jonatan Brunes netting Raków’s consolation.

In Norway, Alfred Scriven also played 90 minutes for FK Bryne in their 2-0 loss to Molde. Fredrik Gulbrandsen and Caleb Zady Sery were on target for the hosts.
