In Germany, Linton Maina made a late appearance for 1. FC Köln during their Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Maina was introduced in the 75th minute but could not help his side overturn the deficit as Köln fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat.

In England, Zech Obiero was on target for Tranmere Rovers in their EFL League Two encounter against Oldham Athletic.

The Kenya Under-20 midfielder struck deep into stoppage time, curling home from distance to score Tranmere’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat at Prenton Park.

Oldham extended their unbeaten run to six matches with goals from Mike Fondop, Calum Kavanagh, and Jack Stevens, handing the hosts their fifth consecutive defeat and leaving them just seven points above the relegation zone.

While Zech endured defeat, it was a memorable day for his older brother Micah Obiero, who delivered a stellar display for Wealdstone.

The attacker netted twice as Wealdstone cruised to a commanding 4-1 victory over Braintree Town in the National League.

Braintree had taken the lead through a penalty from John Akinde after 12 minutes, but Nathan Tshikuna equalised soon after with a strike from the edge of the box.

Obiero then powered the hosts ahead in the 26th minute before completing his brace late in the match by tapping in a rebound after Sean Adarkwa’s initial effort was saved. Dylan Kadji added a fourth goal in stoppage time.

In Denmark, Daniel Anyembe played the full 90 minutes for Viborg FF in their Danish Cup semifinal clash against FC Copenhagen.

Despite Anyembe’s solid defensive display, Viborg were edged out 2-1 by the Danish giants.

Elsewhere, Collins Sichenje missed Charlton Athletic’s match against Birmingham City due to injury. Charlton, however, rallied in his absence to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

The performances underline the growing presence of Kenyan and Kenya-eligible players across Europe’s football pyramid.

Their development comes at a crucial time as Kenya prepares to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Uganda and Tanzania, with the national team expected to benefit from the expanding pool of talent abroad.
