Tough Friday outing for Kenyans in the CAF Champions League and Moroccan Botola Pro.

Kenyans plying their trade across Africa had a tough Friday outing as Brian Mandela, Joash Onyango and Masud Juma all suffered defeats with their respective clubs.

Brain Mandela

South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns soiled their Champions League group stage impressive record, suffering a 0-2 defeat against Algerian champions Belouizdad in the final match.

Sundowns had their job done before the match sealing their progression to the quarter-finals as group winners leaving Belouizdad and Al Hilal fighting for the final qualification slot.

Mandela made his first start since the barren draw against Bloemfontein Celtic back in January and completed his first match since another barren draw against Supersport in the same month.

First half goals from Amir Sayoud and Ahmed Gasmi were enough to see Belouizdad progress alongside Sundowns.

Joash Onyango

Kenyan international Joash Onyango completed 90 minutes for Simba in the 1-0 loss to Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

This was a dead rubber clash with both teams having progressed to the quarter-finals with Simba sailing through as group winners before kick off.

Mohamed Sherif’s goal in the first half saw Al Ahly exert revenge over Simba following their loss by a similar margin in the reverse fixture.

Onyango who had an impressive performance in the game stifling most of Al Ahly’s attack picked up a booking in added time for a cynical foul.

Masud Juma

Kenyan international Masud Juma also completed 90 minutes for Difaa El Jadida in the 1-0 loss to FAR Rabat in the Moroccan Botola Pro.

Reda Slim’s goal five minutes before the break was enough to hand Rabat three points as Difaa continue to hover perilously above the relegation zone.
