Tottenham's James Maddison, Ange Postecoglou win monthly Premier League awards

For a lot starving for success and silverware, this could be the sign of a bright future that is about to happen.

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has been named the Premier League player of the month for August, while his gaffer Ange Postecoglou is the EPL manager of August.

At the start of the season, no one could have foreseen that this campaign would unfold so smoothly and successfully for the Spurs, especially after selling their top star, Harry Kane, to Bayern Munich.

However, against all the odds, Tottenham, led by Postecoglou from the dugout and by Maddison on the pitch as a playmaker shone impeccably. Maddison provided two assists on his Tottenham debut in a 2-2 draw against Brentford. He then featured in a 2-0 victory over Manchester United before scoring in a 2-0 success against Bournemouth.

His good form then continued into September with a goal in a 5-2 win against Burnley. Maddison is the first Tottenham player to win the award since Kane in March 2022.

In winning the award, Maddison managed to beat other contenders: Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest), Jarod Bowen (West Ham), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) and Rodri (Manchester City).

Postecoglou has been named Premier League manager of the month after guiding his side to ten points out of a possible 12 so far.

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool) and David Moyes (West Ham) were also up for the award.

Former Celtic boss Postecoglou has won the award following his first month in English football.

The awarded duo will both be eager to impress again when Tottenham host Sheffield United on Saturday.
