Los Blancos hope Tottenham will try to keep the Welshman after he finally found his form

Gareth Bale is finally looking like his old self! As a result, Real Madrid’s hopes increased that they may be able to find a permanent taker for the Welsh star this summer. Los Blancos are determined to offload Bale despite his return to form, in a potential boost for Tottenham, to fund their own attempts to sign either Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

The Welshman has directly contributed to nine goals in his last six games after netting a Premier League double for the second Sunday running against Crystal Palace. Bale (31) has one year left of his current Madrid deal after this season, worth around 36 million USD (almost 4 billion KSH), and removing as much of the financial burden from their wage bill remains Madrid’s priority.

'It is not that we have challenged him or anything,' 'We have only supported him. Mourinho told Spanish newspaper AS

'I found psychological scars in him. When you are a couple of seasons with many injuries, the important thing is not only the muscular scars, but also the psychological ones, which bring fear and instability.

'There is a moment when you are working well and when everyone around you is supporting you to the maximum. At that moment the psychological barrier is broken.'And he has done it. It was him, not us.'

Real want to free up the funds to invest in either Borussia Dortmund’s Haaland or Paris Saint-Germain’s Mbappe, two of European football’s biggest superstars. And Madrid’s interest in Haaland could put them on a collision course with Manchester City, who are considered the biggest threat from the Premier League in the race to sign the Norwegian striker.

Bale is currently on loan at Spurs on a season-long deal, an agreement that is not thought to include an option in writing for the forward to stay for a second year. Manager Jose Mourinho hinted as such last week when asked about Bale’s future, saying: ‘They [Madrid] have the power in their hands.’

Spurs are expected to wait until closer towards the end of the campaign before finalising their plans, with an approach certainly expected if Bale is able to maintain his current impressive form.

Bale is understood to be keen on extending his second spell if one can be agreed with the north Londoners. His improved displays have been noted back at his parent club and the departure of Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane could also lead to a change of heart and a return to the Bernabeu being offered.

But, for now, Madrid are still hoping for a permanent exit – to Spurs or elsewhere – while a second Spurs loan could not be discounted though would almost certainly require a renegotiation of terms. Spurs are currently paying around 345.000 USD of Bale’s 900.000 USD-per-week wages.
