Muiruri is hoping to break into the Sofapaka first XI despite the club having experienced midfielders on their books.
Sofapaka FC youngster Bernard Muiruri is longing to make his debut in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) upon the resumption of the league.
Muiruri joined Sofapaka in the mid-season transfer window after taking the 2020 Governor Granton Samboja Cup by a storm.
The midfielder is itching to make his maiden appearance for the club despite the club boasting of experienced midfielders such as Lawrence Juma, David King’atua and Roy Okal.
“I have hopes that I will soon make my debut if the club signed me it means they have huge faith in me and I have to show that I deserved the opportunity, I will be ready, train hard and eventually my chance will come,” he said.
Muiruri also opened up on the difference between head coach Ken Odhiambo and his assistant David Ouma with both coaches boasting a wealth of experience.

“Ken is a good coach he showed the belief in me when I felt that nobody else did - he suggested that I should be signed. I felt nice because that means that he has believed in me and I did not want to let him down,”
“Working with him has at the same time been challenging but I've also enjoyed the experience if you break into the top flight there are a number of things needed but you later adapt,” explained the midfielder.
The former Taveta Sisal ace lauded David Ouma for being exceptional at man-management skills issuing sound advice to bring out the best in a player.
“Davie is a good coach he is more of an adviser, he encourages you all the time and pushes you because he knows your potential and knows how to get the best of you,” said Muiruri.
Ouma rejoined Sofapaka as the assistant coach cum Sporting Director back in April after being shown the door at Harambee Starlets.
