The defeat saw Batoto Ba Mungu drop to ninth place with eight points after seven matches
Sofapaka head coach Ezekiel Akwana alleges that the refereeing in his side’s 1-0 loss to defending FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police on Wednesday, 5 November, was very poor.

Akwana, speaking after the defeat inflicted on him by his former player Edward Omondi, said center referee Diego Oyoo wrongly awarded “disadvantages” to his side and was hesitant to issue caution to Kenya Police players.
“The officiating was very poor,” Akwana told Azam Tv when asked about his team’s performance. “The referee gave away disadvantages that did not exist, and was being forced to give caution. I heard his linesman tell him to issue a caution (yellow card), but he did not. For our side, he was reacting so much.”
The card count at full time did not, however, reflect Akwana’s sentiments, as Kenya Police players were booked thrice (Job Ochieng, David Okoth, and Abud Omar), with Sofapaka receiving only two yellow cards (Japtheth Mzungu and Ezekiel Okeno).
Akwana earlier this season came up with similar blame on match officials, criticizing the referee during Sofapaka’s 1-1 draw with AFC Leopards on 20 September.
In-game decisions aside, Akwana thought fatigue might have caught up with the players, having been on a run of three games in nine days.
Speaking about the tight schedule, he said: “We have been on back-to-backs every two to three days, and there were some heavy legs there. We will now shift our focus to recovery for the next game, because we started somewhat slow today, but played better in the second half.”
Sofapaka, who lost skipper Victor Okello to injury early in the first half, with the result dropped to ninth on the log with eight points after seven matches.
