Sofapaka head coach David Ouma has welcomed the return of last season’s best midfielder Lawrence Juma from suspension.

The Kenyan international missed the last two matches against Bidco United and Mathare United after seeing red in the 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar for an off the ball incidence.

However, the former Gor Mahia man has boosted the club’s preparations for this weekend’s clash against Rangers as he will be available for selection. Ouma who has been in charge for the last six matches said the return of Juma will inject competition in the midfield and tipped him to make up for the time lost by giving his best version on the pitch.

We have a full squad depth and, more importantly, I am glad to have Lawrence Juma back. He’s been instrumental for us and he will be a huge addition to the team in the final fixtures of the season. I believe the two-week suspension will see him back rejuvenated and raring to go,” he told the club media.

Ouma who took over from his sacked boss Kennedy Odhiambo almost two months ago has led the team to garner twelve points from a possible 18. The former Harambee Starlets gaffer wants his charges to strive and finish inside the top five bracket.

At the beginning, we struggled a bit, but afterwards we have managed to win our matches and this has greatly had an impact on our overall performance. I am happy we have made progress in the standings and I believe a top five chance is a realistic opportunity,” he said.

To achieve the top five finish, Ouma observed that three wins from the remaining four matches will see them hit the target.

“We are into the home stretch and we want to make good use of the four matches in order to have a strong finish. I am optimistic that if we can at least get three more wins, then we will be able to achieve our season target,” he noted.
