Sixth 'cursed' Old Lady's boss in last five years, and a gigantic hole in club's finances

Luciano Spalletti is on the verge of taking charge of Juventus, though the fact that the Turin side is under pressure to act quickly will guarantee the tactician a vast amount of money

It was May 17, 2024, when Massimiliano Allegri left Juventus for the second time, just two days after winning the Coppa Italia trophy. However, the popular Max's case wasn't the first time the Old Lady parted ways with the tactician who had just won a piece of silverware. In August 2020, Maurizio Sarri was sacked only 13 days after securing the Scudetto - Juventus' last.

As if the Bianconeri brought some sort of curse on their own heads by sacking and treating the two badly, they simply can't catch a break with managers ever since.

Sarri's successor and Allegri's predecessor, Andrea Pirlo, spent only nine months in Turin, Thiago Motta lasted a month longer, while Igor Tudor, who was sacked yesterday, "survived" seven months, leading the team in only 24 games.

Hence, Juve's management had to act fast, and the new gaffer is reportedly found, as the ex-Italy boss Luciano Spalletti is on the verge of taking over the bench, becoming the sixth Bianconeri's manager in the last five years.

The finances are an even sadder story...

Thanks to the lavish contracts they gave to Motta and Tudor, the Turin side will have to splurge over €26 million on the two tacticians after sacking them. At the same time, given Juve's hurry, Spalletti also saw his chance to negotiate.

Namely, according to sources, the 66-year-old demanded at least a two-year deal worth €4-5 million, which would increase the Old Lady's "manager expenses" to €40 million gross.

Nevertheless, Spalletti will face one hell of a challenge himself. Juventus currently sit in eighth Serie A position, six points behind the leaders Napoli and Roma, and have been winless in all competitions since September 13.

Therefore, the super-experienced Luciano will have a massive fire to put out. The only question is, will he manage to do it and earn the money he demanded?
