To complete the Matchweek, one game has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 19 November.
As is the norm, Mozzart Sport has highlighted some of the key lessons learned from the productive weekend fixtures.
Tame Leopards could have been mistaken for a cat
Kenyan giants AFC Leopards produced an underwhelming performance against Murang'a Seal that could have left their fans mistaking them for a domestic cat.
The two teams met on Sunday, 16 November, with Leopards considered favourites by bookmakers and expected to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Mara Sugar FC in Matchweek eight.
However, the 1998 league champions were on the back foot from the first minute, struggling to keep possession, string passes, or produce any meaningful attack. Ingwe managed to register just a single shot on target in the entire match.
In fact, it was Seal who created several clear-cut chances and could have taken all three points if they had been clinical in front of goal.
The several changes that head coach Fred Ambani is making each game are not doing the team any favours, and after eight matches, the former Zoo FC head coach must now have a preferred starting 11.
Additionally, the former Wazito FC tactician must find a way of making the team play with urgency and grind results or else he will continue to face pressure from fans, as was the case after the Sunday afternoon clash.
Tusker's unbeaten streak grinds to a halt
In yet another blockbuster match of the weekend, defending champions Kenya Police FC bounced back to winning ways, defeating 12-time champions 2-1 in a match played on Sunday at the St. Sebastian Park, Murang'a.
The win also meant that Tusker’s six-match unbeaten run that stretched from their barren draw against Mathare United on Wednesday, 1 October, came to an end.
After two defeats in their opening two games, followed by two draws, the Brewers had a resurgence, winning three of their next four matches.
While they went for a win against the Law Enforcers, it was old boy Eric Zakayo who first broke their heart in the 13th minute before David Simiyu doubled the lead at the half-hour mark.
Tusker got a consolation in the 93rd minute courtesy of an Erick Kapaito penalty.
Kakamega Homeboyz are fading fast
Former Mozzart Bet Cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz seem to be running out of steam after an impressive start to the season.
The Kakamega-based side had won four of their first six matches and sat at the summit of the league table after match week six.
However, the club has now failed to win any of their last three matches, managing two draws and tasting a 2-0 defeat in their Saturday, 15 November clash against Mathare United.
Homeboyz, who blew a chance of going top of the table, are now second on the log with 15 points, one shy of league leaders Gor Mahia, who have played two games fewer.
Reprieve for Mohamed Borji after first win with Bandari
In his fifth attempt since taking charge of Bandari FC, Moroccan tactician Mohamed Borji, who was under immense pressure, secured his first win, a 2-0 victory over Sofapaka.
The win takes a huge load off Borji’s shoulders and gives him a better avenue to prepare his team for the subsequent matches and challenge for the elusive league title.
In an even more positive note, the win was secured by a brace from wonderkid Erisat Orute, who found the back of the net in the fifth and 21st minutes respectively.
The two goals were also the youngster’s first top-flight goals since his promotion from the youth team.
Matano feeling the heat at KCB
Pressure continues to mount on KCB FC head coach Robert Matano over the team’s poor results.
The Bankers started the league with an emphatic 2-0 win over Tusker FC, but have only managed one win in their seven subsequent matches.
They are currently on a five-match winless streak that includes three defeats, and Matano, who was hired to guide the team to a league title, must find a strategy to win.
Increased revenue for AFC Leopards
Despite the unpleasant result, AFC Leopards recorded their highest attendance of the season, which saw them also collect Ksh1,719,000 - their highest this season.
Unfortunately, Ingwe could not reward the Blue Army with a win and must do so in their next match to keep fans in the stadium ahead of the Mashemeji Derby slated for Sunday, 30 November.
