Alagic has stepped down from his coaching position.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Sanjin Alagic has left the club on mutual consent, club CEO Patrick Korir has confirmed.

The Bosnian’s final assignment as City Stars coach was the 1-1 draw against Gor Mahia on Saturday at the Ruaraka Grounds. He leaves City Stars in 7th position with 37 points after 25 rounds of league matches.

“He requested that we allow him to go home. He has some personal issues that he needs to handle and we half-heartedly had to let him go. We tried to convince him to continue until at least the end of the month but he requested that we release him after today’s game. Coach Sanjin has been a top professional during his time with us and we can only wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Korir told Mozzart Sport.

The tactician joined Nairobi City Stars in 2019 and guided the team back to the FKF Premier League in 2020 after four years in the second tier. He has slowly transformed the team into a side that plays good attacking football.

Korir revealed that club legend, John Amboko who has been serving as Alagic’s assistant will be in charge of the team for now.

We are not appointing a new coach right now. John Amboko will be in charge of the team until we make a decision over the coaching issue,” he added.

City Stars’ next game will be against Vihiga United on Wednesday afternoon in Nakuru.
