Shikalo reveals reason for premature exit from Mtibwa Sugar FC

Kenyan international Faruk Shikalo has revealed that issues withing the club forced him to prematurely leave Tanzanian Premier League side Mtibwa Sugar.

Shikalo left Mtibwa last month hardly three months after joining the outfit from another Tanzanian side Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) FC.

Prior to joining KMC, Shikalo turned for record Tanzanian champions Yanga for two seasons having made a much-publicized move to the club in 2019 from Bandari.

The custodian revealed that he terminated his year-long deal owing to the endless 'issues' off the pitch which he said possessed the potential to water down his performance on the pitch.

When pressed to shed light on the nature and magnitude of the said 'issues', Shikalo insisted likened himself to a good dancer who ostensibly knew when to exit the stage.

The award-winning goalkeeper who has since returned home has been playing test matches with a group of other free agents at Camp Toyoyo.

"I can confirm that I am a free agent after leaving Mtibwa last month. There were a lot of 'issues' at the club that compelled me to terminate my contract. The environment wasn't as conducive as I had wished and thus, had to leave," he disclosed.

With the transfer window in the foreign player markets set to open next month, the former Muhoroni Youth man expressed optimism in sealing a new deal in the new year.

Shikalo who was among the Harambee Stars players that featured in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt disclosed that two unnamed teams had already shown interest in his services.

"I have been contacted by teams from within and without. I believe I will attract more before the window opens. My prayer is to join a team that is focused on fighting for titles," he added.
