Former Kibera Black Stars midfielder ready to listen to offers after recovering

As the local transfer window fast approaches, former Kibera Black Stars attacking midfielder Melvin Macharia has expressed hope in gracing the local scene for a second spell after a near fatal stint with Thailand’s Pluakdaeng.

Macharia who is commonly known as Shashu jetted back in the country in January to continue with medication after contracting meningitis while in Thailand which saw neglected and eventually dropped by the third tier club.

The player had joined Pluakdaeng in December 2019 on a year-long contract but hell broke loose when he fell ill the club turned a blind eye on him immediately after his admission at the Raon Hospital.

However, Kenyans of good will came to his rescue after pooling resources for his medication and sustenance and further petitioned the government to airlift him home for treatment.

After successfully beating the disease, Shashu cautiously began training with Dimba Patriots in a bid to to find back his form which he observed that had withered to regrettable lows due to the lethal nature of the disease.

The former Boma FC player says he is ready to listen to offers in the forthcoming transfer from teams drawn from either the top flight or the National Super League.

I really pray that I will get a new club in the new season either in the second tier or the top flight. The doctor cleared me to play football three months after returning home. I have used the past months to work on my fitness levels which I feel are good enough to play football again at the competitive level,” he said.

Shashu is currently training with the Dagoretti based Santos FC.
