Sharpshooting Police train guns on Sofapaka as FKFPL enters round 27

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 20.04.24. | 08:29

Rangers have lost their last five league matches and worse still, have scored a single goal in all of them

Kenya Police will be looking to draw six points closer to Football Kenya Federation Premier League leaders Gor Mahia when they play Sofapaka at the Police Sacco Grounds on Sunday.

Police, who have never lost a league game since the elevation of Salim Babu to the rank of head coach in December last year, moved to the second slot after edging KCB 1-0 last weekend.

The law enforcers will take on the struggling Sofapaka hoping to extend their fine run and march closer to Gor who will be in action on Sunday.

While Police will be hoping to cut Gor’s lead to six points, pending the outcome of the Mashemeji Derby result on Sunday, Sofapaka on the other hand, are in desperate need of maximum points.

The 2009 league winners find themselves on the wrong end of the log and will have to win today’s encounter to avoid sinking into the red zone.

Victory for Sofapaka will take them two places up should Nairobi City Stars do them a favour by beating FC Talanta, who are above them by a point.

City Stars, who returned to winning ways last weekend following their 3-0 win over Murang’a Seal, will take on Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The Police vs Sofapaka clash will be preceded by the tie pitting Kariobangi Sharks against the bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar.

Other league matches set for Saturday will see Shabana host Kakamega Homeboyz at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.

Shabana will be looking for their third straight win which will take them out of the automatic relegation place.

Interim Posta Rangers head coach Bernard Kawinzi will seek to bag his first win since his appointment when the mailmen tackle Bidco United at Thika Stadium.

Kawinzi was appointed two weeks ago following the suspension of his boss John Kamau.

Rangers have lost their last five league matches and worse still, have scored a single goal in all of them.

Meanwhile, Bandari will tackle KCB at the Mombasa Sports Club.
