The speedy youngster underwent surgery after damaging his patellar tendonitis back in January.

Kariobangi Sharks have been handed a shot in the arm ahead of the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season that is set to get underway in under one month after speedy winger Patrick Ngunyi was passed fully fit after staying out of action for nearly eight months.

Back in January, the youngster damaged his patella tendonitis and was ruled out for what was thought to be around eight to ten weeks. That was not to be as in April, the injury demanded correction and Ngunyi was consequently wheeled into the operation table where he underwent an arthroscopy surgery.

After successful surgery and rehabilitation since April, the player has now fully recovered in time for preseason duties ahead of the new campaign commencing in September. Speaking to the club’s portal, the winger expressed his delight in turning a new leaf after an injury-laden eight months as he thanked the management for sticking with him at a time when up to eleven players have been released by the club.

“Having been out of the game for more than a year due to a nagging injury, being back feels good. I thank the club management for standing by me through that period. Being back on the pitch and having a feel of the ball at my feet is refreshing. For the fans, expect nothing but the best from the team,” the player said.

Sharks also expect to have back the services of Samuel Olwande who has been on the sidelines since April after tearing his ankle cartilage. The experienced defender who also underwent surgery started taking part in light training sessions with the team as the 2020/2021 season approached its conclusion.
