Sharks - Posta clash highlights big weekend as Police, Sofapaka hope midweek changes turn to wins

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 30.09.23. | 08:51

The early kickoff match will be between Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka at Kasarani Annex from 1300 EAT

Early ‘pacesetters’ collide, familiar faces in new grounds and “it can’t get any worse.”

That’s ideally the idea that comes into mind while ushering in Week Five of the FKF Premier League.

Saturday 30 September will have four matches played across various venues across the country but there is only one place to start.

Kenya Police vs Bidco United

Without any merit, Zdravko Logarušić is the only reason we begin here.

The Croat is back in the country after close to seven years, and as detailed as his opening speech on Thursday was - that he came from the airport and straight into training - he will need to work under the same speed to help turn the fortunes of a club obviously better than no win in four and 15th in the league.

His opponent however, is unbeaten, and got their first three points of the season with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Talanta over the weekend.

On head to head, a win for Anthony Akhulia will be new territory for him, as his side, though in five attempts, has never beaten Kenya Police.

Game kicks off at 1500 EAT at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Kariobangi Sharks vs Posta Rangers

Easily the game of the weekend given the hot starts by both sides.

On ten points with three wins out of four, Posta Rangers could extend their two point lead on top of the standings but will have to make do with another unbeaten side coming off a last-gasp win on the road last weekend.

April 2017 remains the last time John Kamau’s side last beat Sharks but going with their incredible stats this season; joint most goals scored and least conceded, a fiery game could be on the cards at the Kasarani Annex this afternoon.

Match kicks off at 1515 EAT.

Sofapaka vs Nairobi City Stars

Owing to their disastrous start to the season - zero wins and dead last on the log - Sofapaka come into Saturday’s game hoping that a twin of changes in their backroom will help ease the already made known pressure on Francis Haringingo’s shoulders.

While David Ouma took leave from his Sporting Director role, former player Ezekiel Akwana answered the call to go back to his club as the assistant coach.

That will however not matter for Simba wa Nairobi, as they look to build on their first win of the season last weekend.

The weekend’s early kickoff game kicks off at 1300 EAT at the Kasarani Annex Grounds.

Nzoia Sugar vs Murang’a Seal

A blistering start to the season for the day’s visitors has in the last two weeks suffered a huge dent with back to back defeats to Talanta and Posta Rangers, with zero goals scored to their existing two.

Nzoia Sugar on the other hand saw their unbeaten start to the season end thanks to a 1-0 defeat to Nairobi City Stars.

A chance for both sides to redeem themselves, on a clean card given that will be their first ever meeting.

Match takes place at the Sudi Stadium. Kick off at 1500 EAT.
