Injuries rule out Sakari, Teka from league restart

Kariobangi Sharks have been handed a massive blow ahead of their Friday Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz as the duo of Tom Teka and Daniel Sakari will be sidelined due to injury.

The two defenders have been ruled out of the match set to be staged at the Utalii grounds due to groin and ankle injuries respectively.

Sakari whose career has been on an upward trajectory since joining Sharks sprained his ankle last week in training and consequently misses out an opportunity to face his former employers.

On the other hand, Teka has endured a torrid time in getting over a recurring groin setback which has limited his playing time this season.

"Sakari hurt his ankle last week and is yet to recover fully. Teka who has had a problem in his groin has been training well but as a precaution measure he will not be available for selection," said the club physiotherapist John Kemboi.

Kemboi confirmed that Sakari will be out for an additional two weeks while Teka will undergo a scan on Monday to ascertain whether he is fit enough to rumble again.

" Sakari is progressing on well but will still sit out for two more weeks. We initially wanted to Teka to be scanned on Friday but considering the holiday celebrations, the exercise will be done on Monday. We just want to get a clear picture of the affected area before allowing him to play competitive matches, " he added.

Sharks who were on a form of their own before the league was adjourned by a presidential decree on March 25 sit fourth with 28 points, five shy of league leaders Tusker.
