It was another frustrating evening for the Glamour Boys, who showed flashes of promise but again failed to turn dominance into goals.
For head coach Peter Okidi, the draw offered little relief, coming at a time when pressure from the club’s passionate fanbase continues to mount.
Both teams began the game cautiously, probing each other’s weaknesses in the opening exchanges but with no real breakthrough.
Shabana’s attacking trio pressed high, forcing Sharks into early defensive errors, but poor final passes and indecision in front of goal kept the game level.
The tempo picked up after the break, as in the 65th minute, Shabana made the first tactical change of the evening as Bronson Nsubuga paved the way for Gilbert Abala, a move intended to inject more creativity down the right flank.
The switch nearly paid off when, in the 71st minute, Austine Odongo came agonizingly close to breaking the deadlock.
The forward found himself in space after a slick build-up but watched in disbelief as his effort flashed narrowly wide of the upright, much to the frustration of the travelling Tore Bobe fans.
Shabana continued to push forward, and in the 75th minute, Victor Otieno was replaced by Humphrey Obina, adding fresh legs in defense.
However, the story of missed chances persisted, and as fatigue crept in, Sharks slowly began to find their footing.
William Muluya responded with changes of his own, introducing Razel Omondi and Faiz Opande for Markvivan Kesa and Steve Mbulere just after the hour mark.
The adjustments steadied their midfield and gave them a foothold in possession.
In the 82nd minute, Shabana thought they had finally found the breakthrough when Odongo slotted the ball home from close range, only for the assistant referee’s flag to cut short their celebrations.
The offside call drew visible frustration from both the players and the bench, as another chance went begging.
Sensing the need for fresh energy, Okidi made a third change in the 85th minute, bringing on Daddy Odoyo for Kevin Omondi, while Sharks responded moments later with further substitutions, Jahson Wakachala replacing Victor Ngume in the 83rd minute, and Joseph Mwangi coming on for Humphrey Aroko in stoppage time.
Despite late surges from both ends, neither side managed to find the back of the net, and the match ended in a goalless stalemate, a result that reflected the balance of play but left Shabana ruing their missed chances once again.
The draw halts Shabana’s three-match losing streak but extends their winless run to four games.
The Kisii-based side now sits seventh on eight points, while Kariobangi Sharks remain 14th with six points.
For Okidi, whose team had earlier suffered defeats to Posta Rangers, AFC Leopards, and Mathare United, this result offers only a temporary reprieve.
The coach, who earlier in the week apologised to fans for the team’s poor form, will be under immense pressure to deliver wins as the season intensifies.
