Shabana have also ushered in a new era on the technical bench after appointing Egyptian coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fakhri to lead the team.

Shabana FC have stepped up preparations for the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season after confirming the signings of attacking midfielder Sigmunn Maina Irungu and goalkeeper Bixente Otieno.

The two arrivals mark the Glamour Boys' first pieces of business in the current transfer window as the club begins reinforcing its squad following an impressive fifth-place finish last season, the highest league finish since earning promotion to the FKF Premier League in 2023.

Maina joins the Kisii-based outfit from Swedish side AIK Framtid FK, where he spent the past season after leaving Kariobangi Sharks.

The creative midfielder made a name for himself during his time at Sharks with his technical quality, vision and attacking flair before moving to Sweden to continue his development. His return to Kenyan football is expected to provide Shabana with added creativity in midfield.

Shabana also moved quickly to address a major vacancy between the posts by signing 24-year-old goalkeeper Bixente Otieno from Posta Rangers.

Otieno's arrival comes as reigning FKF Premier League Golden Glove winner Stephen Ochieng edges closer to a move to Tanzanian Premier League side Pamba Jiji FC.

Ochieng is expected to join fellow Kenyans Mathews Tegisi, Brian Eshianda and Shaphan Oyugi at the Tanzanian club, which is coached by John Waw and Francis Baraza.

Otieno arrives after establishing himself as one of the league's reliable goalkeepers during his spell at Posta Rangers. The former Kariobangi Sharks custodian is expected to compete for, and potentially inherit, the club's number one jersey following Ochieng's departure.

The double signing signals Shabana's ambition to build on last season's progress, with the club expected to remain active in the transfer market.

Reports indicate that former Nairobi United captain Daniel Bichiok has already agreed to join the Glamour Boys, while former BB Bread defender Joseph Tindo has also been linked with a move to Gusii Stadium.

On the outgoing front, defender Wycliffe Omondi has already completed a switch to Nairobi City Stars, becoming the club's first notable departure of the off-season.

Shabana have also ushered in a new era on the technical bench after appointing Egyptian coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fakhri to lead the team. The club is expected to back the CAF A Licence holder in the transfer market as he shapes a squad capable of pushing further up the table and challenging for honours in the 2026/27 campaign.
