Former top flight side moves four points within reach of automatic promotion

Former top flight giants Shabana have inched closer to the National Super League promotion bracket after thrashing Vihiga Bullets 4-1 at the Migori grounds.

The big win thrusts Robert Ojienda's charges to third with 33 points, four off the second placed Kenya Police and seven behind league leaders FC Talanta.

Shabana broke the deadlock through Elly Augustin just nineteen minutes into the game with Baron Mchira doubling the scores at the stroke of half an hour.

Bullets halved the deficit two minutes after restart through Geoffrey Airo but Hillary Mukanzi kissed the back of the net in the 69th minute to restore the two goal cushion.

Bullets hopes of salvaging a point were put off after Fred Nyakundi drove the final nail into their coffin late in the game to seal Shabana's ninth win of the season.

Following the defeat, Bullets who are in their second season dropped to fifth with 32 points.

Elsewhere, APs Bomet staged a dramatic second half comeback to switch off Coast Stima 3-2 at the Mbaraki grounds in a lunch hour kick off.

The hosts had taken a 2-0 lead at halftime but the paramilitary side fought tooth and nail to stretch their recent unbeaten run to twelve matches.

Debutants MCF who are also among the teams seeking to gain elevation at the end of the season lost 2-1 to a limping Nairobi Stima at the Camp Toyoyo grounds.

Stima got off the mark through Hillary Otieno in the 44th minute with Roland Makati making it two three minutes later.

Bradley Omondi netted MCF's consolation goal in the 73rd minute.

Relegation battling Modern Coast Rangers failed to make good use of home advantage after playing Murang'a Seal to a barren draw at the Serani grounds.

There was unusual rain of goals at the Wundanyi Stadium as hosts Mwatate United played Silibwet Leons to a four all draw.
