Shabana FC experienced a sharp decline in match day revenue from their FKF Premier League match against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The two clubs faced each other on Saturday, 18 April at the Gusii Stadium, with Shabana claiming a hard fought 1-0 victory.

Despite bagging the three points, the club did not surpass the one million shilling mark, numbers which they have been occasionally attaining when playing in front of home fans.

“We collected a gross revenue of Ksh 611,500 It was great seeing the Stadium painted red and white. Thank you for the love and support,” read a post on their social media handles.

The amount represents a downfall of Ksh189,500 as the club collected Ksh801,000 in their previous home match against Murang'a Seal.

The trend stretches even to their home match against Kariobangi Sharks, which preceded the Seal match, where they collected Ksh933,100.

The current declining trend is something that must worry the Shabana management as they have always collected more than that amount, especially in their weekend games.

It is now the third consecutive time that the Kisii-based club has failed to hit the Ksh1 million mark from ticket sales.

In their other recent home matches before the three games, Shabana collected a gross revenue of Ksh1,186,400 from their match against Tusker,on 21 February, with Ksh1,131,500 being realized from their meeting with Bandari on 1 February.

The club's previous poor run in the league, where they had suffered four defeats in five matches, including a devastating 3-0 loss to Nairobi United might have affected their numbers, especially for travelling fans.

Back to their match against Homeboyz, a beautifully taken 31st minute strike by Congolese forward Assis Batshi was all that Shabana needed to secure three points and return to winning ways.

The win also marked a positive start of the Osborne Monday era even as Shabana keep scouting for a substantive head coach.

Shabana are fifth on the log with 46 points, same as Homeboyz who enjoy a superior goal difference.

They will welcome Police FC in their next home match on Saturday, 25 April.
