Despite being nine points behind league leaders Kenya Police FC, Shabana FC midfielder Justin Omwando remains optimistic that the club will win its maiden league title this season.

Unlike the previous campaign, the Glamour Boys have been in good form in their second season back in the top flight.

Currently, the Kisii-based team has eight wins, the most recent being a 4-1 thumping of Kakamega Homeboyz, and nine draws in 23 league games, totalling 33 points out of a possible 46.

Interestingly, the Glamour Boys are five points closer to matching last season's 38 points tally.

Furthermore, they are the third-best team on the wins record this season, three fewer than table leaders Kenya Police, who have eleven wins, and one fewer than AFC Leopards and KCB FC.

They are, however, nine points behind the Law enforcers, who lead the league with 42 points.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the attacking midfielder feels their turnaround in performance is a statement of their intent to be crowned champions.

He credits their season turnaround to seasoned tacticians Peter Okidi and 2019 Mozzart Bet Cup-winning coach Bernard Mwalala, who have been instrumental since their arrival in November 2024.

"We had a better season than the past one. We are nine points behind police, and based on our performance since the appointment of coach Okidi and his technical bench, I am convinced we can win the league," Omwando stated.

The former Migori Youth ace admits that they must win the majority of their remaining matches if they are to fulfil their objective.

"We are now working on one game at a time, but more importantly, we must avoid defeat at all costs. We have a strong team that I am confident will propel the club to league success," he continued.

After the cup matches, Tore Bobe will face AFC Leopards when the FKF Premier League resumes on March 15 and 16.
