The two sides are set to lock horns on Sunday, 11 January, when the league resumes after a two-week hiatus occasioned by the festive season.
With Shabana being the home team, they had anticipated hosting the match at their Gusii Stadium backyard, but reports indicate that the match has been moved to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
In a strong rejoinder, the club, through their Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama, refuted the move, noting that it compromises the integrity of the game.
“Kasarani Stadium and Nyayo Stadium are officially registered home grounds for Gor Mahia FC. In this case, Shabana FC is the home team, not Gor.
It is unacceptable for our home fixture to be changed unilaterally and relocated to our opponent’s home ground without prior notice, justification, or consultation.
That move and action lacks fairness, transparency, and the integrity of competition,” said Kerama.
The experienced football administrator went ahead to accuse the federation of bias towards Gor Mahia.
“Football is a game of fairness, and the administration should not treat or handle it with fear nor favour to one team,” added Kerama.
FKF is said to have considered the change of venue due to security concerns and the ability of Gusii Stadium to host such a high-profile game.
The federation is also said to have relied on the ordeals of 4 May when Shabana hosted K’Ogalo at Gusii, and scores of people were injured after fans from both sides engaged in physical fights and hooliganism, leading to criticism of FKF from a section of fans for allowing the match to be staged there.
The federation is once again on the receiving end following the hooliganism experienced at Dandora Stadium on Sunday, 21 December, during the Nairobi United versus Gor Mahia match.
Nevertheless, Kerama reassured the club’s supporters that they will host the highly anticipated clash at Gusii.
“Our match against Gor remains to be played at Gusii stadium as we have not received any official communication on the reason for change of venue,” he concluded.
