Sex, lies and Russian videotapes: translator reveals La Roja's orgies at 2018 World Cup

Mexican student Alex Pena worked as a translator for the Spanish national side, and now he opens up about their rampant behaviour

It's a no-brainer that famous athletes are not too reluctant to misbehave occasionally, especially regarding women, alcohol and other pleasures that surround them, mainly during those major, global tournaments.

And that's apparently what happened to the Spanish national football team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

According to Alex Pena, who worked as their official translator during those days in Moscow and Krasnodar, most of Fernando Hierro's squad behaved extravagantly, to put it politely.

Pena, born and raised in Mexico, had signed a contract with the Spanish Football Federation and FIFA that didn't allow him to talk about the subject until recently. But now, when there are no limits, Pena told the YouTube channel 'Che America Latina' about the orgies La Roja's stars were involved in Russia. Excluding Andres Iniesta.

"The only serious there was Iniesta. I woke them up and no one was ready except Iniesta. Once, I did it with Busquets and he got angry at me. He told me I was a shitty alarm clock, "explained Pena before hitting it hard on the rest of the gang...

"Gerard Pique is a person who does not have his feet on the ground and looks contemptuously at other people.

"Once, I came in and saw the room full of beer bottles, cigarettes, shishahs... They even asked me at seven in the morning to order them beers," he said, adding that he was not surprised to see Spain being eliminated in the round of 16 to host team Russia in the penalty shootout.

However, things got really worse a few days before, after the game against Iran.

"I was in the kitchen, talking to waitresses when Nacho Monreal, Dani Carvajal and David de Gea arrived to ask me to invite them to go out and party with them," he recalls.

The footballers asked him to join them so they could communicate since the girls spoke only Russian.

"We went to a hotel suite, they ordered a vodka, and I acted as translator. Suddenly, Carvajal asked me to tell one of her he wanted to have oral sex with her (Mozzart Sport won't use the exact words Carvajal used at that moment, of course). Instead, I told her Carvajal thinks she has very beautiful eyes."

According to Pena, at the end of the night, De Gea was the only one who got lucky with the girls.

"He ended up spending the night with the waitress with whom he had 'fallen in love'. The rest of the footballers were not 'successful'. They came back angry, and Carvajal did not understand being rejected since he's a Real Madrid player," Pena concludes with a laugh.

On the other hand, Carvajal assured this Wednesday that "all the information reported in the press during these days referring to him are totally false."

He took to X (former Twitter) to state that he has nothing with those allegations.

"I find it absolutely regrettable and extremely delicate that the media has the right to write with impunity, giving credibility to the words of third parties, staining my name and honour. I have already taken legal action," says the footballer.
