The Seville derby always comes with tension — and this time was no different, though the battles weren’t limited to the pitch…
Former Manchester United winger Antony found himself at the center of attention again — this time not on the pitch, but in the stands — as Real Betis claimed derby glory in Seville.
The Brazilian had no choice but to watch from the sidelines at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan after last week’s red card for a dangerously high challenge against Girona ruled him out of the match.

Still, Antony made sure his presence was felt. He showed up on Sunday to back his teammates, who eased to a 2-0 win over their fiercest rivals, courtesy of strikes from former West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals and Sergi Altimira. Footage from the stands captured the ex-Ajax winger celebrating wildly after one of Betis’s goals, much to the fury of the home supporters.
The 25-year-old can be seen shouting and throwing his arms in the air right in front of Sevilla fans, who responded by launching bottles and various objects toward him.
Derbies in Seville are always intense, and this one was no exception. As the match entered its final stages, tempers spilled over when Isaac Romero was dismissed for a rash tackle on Betis’s Valentin Gomez — an incident that further ignited the crowd.

With objects raining down onto the field, referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero had no option but to temporarily stop the game. Players were taken off for roughly 15 minutes before returning to complete Betis’s 2-0 triumph.
For Manuel Pellegrini’s men, the win was essential — lifting them to fifth in LaLiga and coming despite the absence of Antony, who has been revitalizing his career since arriving in Spain.
