Serie A adventures: Napoli and Inter respond to Milan's challenge

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 04.01.26. | 10:34

After the Rossoneri's triumph against Cagliari two days ago, the Neapolitans and the Nerazzurri are under pressure to beat Lazio and Bologna, respectively

The Scudetto race in the Serie A is still fierce, though several contenders are slowly but surely slowing down. Both Juventus and Roma yesterday failed to win, falling seriously behind the table-toppers, AC Milan.

On the other hand, the Rossoneri beat Cagliari on Friday and pulled clear at the top of the table, giving a tough challenge to their first followers, Napoli and Inter Milan.

Now, Antonio Conte and Cristian Chivu's crews have to respond, though their tasks will be anything but easy.

In the first match of the day, the Neapolitans will face Lazio in Rome (14.30). Maurizio Sarri's team is still far from the European zone, but the fact that the reigning Serie A champions last beat the side from the Italian capital in September 2022 speaks volumes.

All eyes of Napoli fans will be on Rasmus Hojlund and David Neres - the duo which netted their previous six goals. Still, Lazio are unbeaten in five games, and the duel between the two sky-blue teams promises fireworks.

On the other hand, Inter will have as many troubles against the seventh-placed Bologna (22.45). At one point, Vincenzo Italiano's men were title contenders, but they have been struggling for some time and are winless in their last four games.

The Nerazzurri have failed to beat the Rossoblu in their previous three encounters - the last time being two weeks ago in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals on penalties - so vengeance will be at stake.
